1. Why We Use Them
- To keep sessions and basic website features working.
- To remember preferences such as theme, language, and saved choices where available.
- To understand, in aggregate, which pages are used so we can improve them — with analytics that do not use cookies.
- To protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats.
2. Types of Cookies
Strictly Necessary
Required for the Service to function — login, security, basic preferences. These cannot be turned off.
Functional
Remember choices you make — your theme, a booking in progress, and the text of a property you are adding — in your browser's local storage.
Analytics
The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views in aggregate without cookies and without tracking you across other websites.
Marketing
The Hostelova website does not use advertising cookies and shows no ads. If we ever introduce them, this policy will be updated and your consent will be requested first.
The Android student app shows ads from Google AdMob. Apps do not use browser cookies; AdMob uses your device's advertising ID instead, which you can reset or restrict in Android settings. See Privacy Policy, section 9.
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some trusted third-party services may receive technical information or set their own cookies when you interact with website resources or embedded content:
- Google Fonts — for font delivery and rendering.
- Cloudflare — hosting and security; it may set a strictly necessary security cookie to tell people from bots.
- Razorpay — on the booking checkout, to process your payment securely.
- OpenStreetMap — map images when an owner places their property on the map.
These partners have their own privacy and cookie policies, which govern their use of any data they collect.
4. Your Choices
- Browser settings: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Note that strictly-necessary cookies are required for the site to work properly.
- App settings: Inside the Hostelova app, you can clear cached data from the Settings screen.
